Poison Prevention & Awareness
March is Poison Prevention and Awareness month and we want to take the time to go over some items that are common around our houses that are not good for our furry family members.
- Xylitol
- This ingredient is found in many chewing gums and is a sweetener that many of us use.
- NSAIDS
- Examples of these are Advil, Motrin, etc.
- Acetaminophen
- Example of this is Tylenol
- Antidepressants
- Flowers
- Several Lilies
- Bulbs should be buried away from our canines to reach them
- Chocolate
- Fertilizers
- Pest Control Products
The Pet Poison Helpline website goes into more depth on each of these products and highly suggest you look at it. Each of these items have different symptoms to watch for but the Pet Poison website has a great generic list for what to watch for and the quick tips on what to do.
If you think that your kiddo has possibly been in contact with any of these, we recommend contacting your Veterinarian or calling Poison Control at (855) 764-7661.
Please keep any of these items out of paws reach and help us lower the number of poison cases that happen a year!
